On February 28, the China Meteorological Administration (CMA) rolled out China Climate Bulletin 2024 (hereinafter referred to as the Bulletin) , which conducted a thorough analysis of the climate conditions of China in 2024, the monitoring state of the climate system, and major meteorological disasters and extreme weather and climate events, and assessed the impacts of the climate on various sectors, the environment, human health and other aspects.

The Bulletin stated that in 2024, climate conditions were characterized by a warm and humid pattern with prominent rain and flooding disasters. The national average temperature was at a record high, and there were many high-temperature days, featured by strong intensity, wide range and long duration.
In terms of temperature, the national average temperature in 2024 was 10.9°C, 1.01°C higher than that in normal years, with high temperatures in all seasons, large fluctuations in coldness and warmth in winter, and the highest temperatures in spring, summer and fall over the same period in history. The average number of high-temperature days nationwide was 6.6 days higher than that of normal years, ranking the second highest since 1961.
In terms of precipitation, the national average precipitation in 2024 amounted to 697.7 mm, which was 9.0% more than that in normal years, and the precipitation in all seasons was on the high side.
