A milestone in terms of the integration between meteorology and finance!
On September 1, the China Meteorological Administration (CMA)unveils CFMis-China Financial Meteorological indexes and services (V1.0) (hereinafter referred to as “the platform”) in Beijing, with the aim of deepening the integrated development of meteorology and finance, developing new quality productive forces of meteorology, and vigorously underpinning the high-quality development of the green finance.
The high-standard financial meteorological indexes oriented towards the service demand of the finance and weather-sensitive industries, can serve as an objective yardstick to measure the meteorological risks or opportunities that financial institutions and economic entities may be confronted with, and also provide reference for the future development and volatility of the financial market.
The Chinese Academy of Meteorological Sciences (CAMS) has teamed up with the National Meteorological Information Centre (NMIC), coupled with the engagement of the key innovation team of financial meteorology of CMA, to develop the platform. They have targeted at the application scenarios of energy, agriculture, transportation and power industries and rolled out the financial meteorological service products with reference for the economy.
The platform can enable meteorological departments to better serve the financial industry, widen the scope of professional meteorological services, and promote meteorological data factors to empower the modernized economic system.

CMA will uphold the concept of open cooperation and innovative development, and give full play to the platform on the strength of the advantages of the meteorological big data.
In the future, the platform will combine the service needs of the financial industry, further screen out and optimize the types of indexes, expand the application scenarios of indexes, improve the service functions of the platform, and build the platform into meteorological services for sectors like banking, insurance, securities, and futures in a bid to ramp up the comprehensive meteorological financial service capability.
