Founded in 2021, CMA Weather Modification Centre (WMC) is an institution directly subordinate to China Meteorological Administration (CMA). WMC is mainly responsible for engaging in the formulation of development plans, relevant policies, and regulations of national weather modification, regional and provincial weather modification operation guidance and technical support, undertaking the construction, operation and maintenance of weather modification system at the national-level; carrying out international exchanges and cooperation in this field. WMC is also accountable for providing public services to the society, like the key technological R&D, results transformation, and application of cloud physics and weather modification mechanism research, and provision of artificial rain enhancement and hail protection scientific outreach activities, and other tasks delegated by CMA.
