It is informed that in 2023, China Meteorological Administration (CMA) will launch FY-3E and FY-3G meteorological satellites in 2023.
FY-3F is projected to lift off in August. As a morning-orbit meteorological satellite, it will replace the in-orbit operation of FY-3C and will be mainly applied in operation or research in areas like weather forecast, ecological environment, and disaster monitoring. FY-3F is equipped with 10 effective payloads, with 2 newly designed ones and 3 upgraded ones.
FY-3G is slated to be launched in April. As the first low inclined orbit precipitation measurement satellite in China, it will mainly find its application in heavy rain monitoring of severe weather system, and provide three-dimensional structure information of precipitation in global middle and low latitude regions. FY-3G is furnished with 4 effective payloads, with 2 newly designed ones and 1 upgraded one.
After the successful launch of the two satellites, China will further give play to the advantage of comprehensive observation network of low orbit meteorological satellite.
So far, CMA has successfully lifted off 19 FY meteorological satellites, with 7 of them in orbit, providing data products and services across the globe.
