CMA launched level four emergency response to address upcoming typhoon

The National Meteorological Center continued to issue blue warning of typhoon at 10:00 a.m. on September 11. At 11:30 a.m., China Meteorological Administration activated a level four emergency response to address typhoon. It is required that the relevant meteorological sectors attached to CMA enter the emergency position immediately and put corresponding meteorological services in place. The potential affected areas such as Guangdong, Hainan and Guangxi are expected to sustain or adjust the emergency state according to local realities.

At this 8:00 a.m., this year’s 23th typhoon Barijat centered at sea areas which about 870 kilometers from east of Leizhou City, Guangdong Province (20.8°N, 118.5°E).

It’s forecasted that Barijat will move towards west at the speed of 10 to 15 kilometers per hour with gaining intensity. Its strongest intensity will reach severe tropical storm or typhoon. Barijat will make landfall along eastern Hainan Island to western Guangdong on daytime of September 13.   

From September 11 to 12, Taiwan Strait, Bashi Channel, northeastern South Sea, coast of Fujian, eastern coast of Guangdong, northern and southern coast of Taiwan will get scale 6-7 gale or 8 gust. Meanwhile, southeastern Fujian and southeastern Guangdong will be affected by heavy rain.

This year’s 22th typhoon Mangkhuthas intensified into super typhoon. In this 8:00 a.m., it located over Northwest Pacific which about 2190 kilometers from east of Manila, Philippines. It will move towards west at the speed of 25 kilometers per hour with gaining intensity then close to northeastern coast of Luzon Island. The National Meteorological Center forecasts that it will enter into northeastern sea areas of South Sea on night of September 15, then close to coast of Guangdong.(Sep.11)
