CMA opened to the public to celebrate WMD and popularize meteorological scientific knowledge

To mark the 59th World Meteorological Day, meteorological departments of Beijing organized a series of scientific knowledge outreach activities for the public on March 23. Besides, the theme of this year’s World Meteorological Day is the Sun, the Earth and the Weather

On March 23, the China Meteorological Administration(CMA) opened the exhibition areas of the meteorological and television building, the meteorological equipment, the science and technology building, the National Satellite Meteorological Center, etc. The public can not only enter into the weather forecast simulation studio to experience the weather forecast, and visit various meteorological equipment, but also to experience the typhoon and rainstorm scenes through VR and AR and visit display wall of the meteorological service for ecological civilization, to watch the short drama on space weather and human activities.

At the event site, the mascot “Duoduo" of the Beijing World Horticultural Exposition, 2019, was debuted. During the Beijing World Expo, the World Meteorological Organization and the CMA will jointly host the eco-meteorological exhibition area, set up the Ecological Meteorological Center, the World Meteorological Organization Park, the Ecological Meteorological Observation Demonstration Station, and the Meteorological Observatory to fully demonstrate the relationship between meteorology, horticulture and ecology.
