On May 8, the China Meteorological Administration (CMA) held a welcome event for the 2025 “Belt and Road” meteorological visiting scholars (hereinafter referred to as “meteorological visiting scholars”). Dr. CAO Xiaozhong, Deputy Administrator of CMA, attended the event and delivered a speech.

7 meteorological visiting scholars from Mongolia, Cameroon, Indonesia, Maldives, Pakistan, Myanmar and Egypt respectively thanked CMA for the valuable learning and exchange opportunities and expressed their expectation for their study life in China. They will be involved in a number of joint work at the National Meteorological Centre (NMC) of CMA, the National Climate Centre (NCC) of CMA, the National Satellite Meteorological Centre (NSMC) of CMA, CMA Earth System Modeling and Prediction Centre (CEMC), Chinese Academy of Meteorological Sciences (CAMS) of CMA, and other departments, such as the research and development of operational platforms for meteorological early warning, scientific and technological innovation of FENGYUN meteorological satellites, and climate change related research.
Previously, under the guidance of the Department of Human Resources and Department of International Cooperation of CMA, CMA International Cooperation and Training Centre (ICTC), in conjunction with Peking University, finally admitted 7 meteorological visiting scholars from more than 60 applicants around the world after a global enrollment process, interviews and selection process. And it is the second batch of visiting meteorologists the program has received since its launch.
