From April 16 to 29, Seminar on the Application of FENGYUN Meteorological Satellites Products for Belt and Road Partner Countries was hosted by World Meteorological Organization (WMO) Regional Training Centre Nanjing. Participants learned about the application of FENGYUN meteorological satellites and visited CMA during the training period. Thirty two international participants from 9 countries, including Afghanistan, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Egypt, Grenada, Myanmar, Nicaragua, Romania and Serbia, participated in the training course.

The Seminar adopts a new teaching model with theoretical, academic operational, practical features, inviting experts from Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology (NUIST) and National Satellite Meteorological Centre (NSMC) to serve as tutors who introduce typical cases to the participants and also resort to practical teaching.

The participants learned the basic theories of satellite meteorology, understood the development status of FY meteorological satellites, and focused on the application of FY satellites in global severe weather monitoring, response to climate change, and ecological and environmental disaster assessment and agricultural production, as well as the practical operation skills of FY satellites application platform.

The participants systematically learned how to access the "FENGYUN Earth" platform, harness FY satellites data and products, and conduct weather system diagnosis and analysis through FY satellite products.

Through the Seminar, global users of FY satellites have incorporated users in Cyprus, Grenada and Nicaragua, which further expanded the service coverage of China's FY satellite products.

China's FY satellites have provided data and products for 129 countries and regions around the world. During this training course, nearly a quarter of the international trainees signed up to be as a global user of FY satellites.
