CMA Center for Earth System Modeling and Prediction

Founded in 2021, Center for Earth System Modeling and Prediction (CEMC) is an institution directly subordinate to China Meteorological Administration (CMA). CEMC takes responsibility of providing public services to the society: undertaking the overall technical design of earth system modeling and prediction, and the R&D and improvement of modeling, data assimilation, data reanalysis, and ensemble prediction; system R&D,construction and improvement of earth system modeling and prediction operational system; diagnosis, verification and evaluation of earth system numerical prediction; undertaking unified technical design of regional earth system modeling and prediction system, and coordinating the design of regional earth system modeling and prediction R&D; undertaking high performance efficiency optimation of earth system modeling and prediction and parallel computing technical research, and others.

CEMC is also responsible for engaging in the formulation of development plans, relevant policies, and regulations of earth system modeling and prediction of CMA; undertaking the international cooperation and exchanges in this field, and providing suggestions as to major national science and technology programs, and joint meteorological funds related to this field.
