From July 25 to 27, the workhop for regional centres of WMO Integrated Global Observing System (WIGOS) was held in Geneva, Switzerland. RWC Beijing was invited to deliver feature reports on operation status and operational report format.

Cui Xi'ai from the operational office of RWC-BJ delivered the report on behalf of RWC-BJ. She introduced operational cases in terms of international meta data management, data quality monitoring assessment and improvement, and observation quality improvement to WIGOS members like Kazakhstan, Nepal, Mongolia. As the representative of RWC, RWC-BJ has delivered operational reports to those RWCs in trial stage, and proposed suggestions on global RWC future work plans based on the reality.

WMO appreciates the efforts of China Meteorological Administration (CMA) as a model RWC in improving the quality of global observations, recognizes its efforts in developing RWC capacity both internally and globally, and recommends that other regions around the world learn from relevant experience in a bid to jointly support and develop the global WIGOS implementation plan.

Zhao Peitao, Deputy Director of the operational office of RWC Beijing, expressed that in the next step, RWC Beijing will reinforce cooperation with RWCs in other Regional Associations of WMO, WMC-BJ, RTC-BJ, and other institutions, play to the advantage of observation instrument measurement, observation method, and data evaluation, to fully support global GTS data quality monitoring and assessment, and better serve global climate change monitoring, numerical weather model forecast, and meteorological satellite application.
