Recently, China Meteorological Administration (CMA) has released a series of notices to deploy key work in 2023, including convection (gale), tornado monitoring forecasting, early warning, and service capacity building and so on.CMA will try hard to elevate the operational capacity in different meteorological disaster categories, regions and basins. To acchieve this goal, CMA recently has clarified annual objective, key tasks and division of work.
In 2023, meteorological departments in China are expected to deepen analysis, conclusion, and principle research of key severe convection (gale) and tornado processes, and develop refined monitoring, smart recognition and objective forecasting technology of severe convection (gale), and tornado, etc.
Oriented towards elevating rainstorm monitoring, forecasting, early warning and service capacities, CMA will optimize ground-space-sky integrated three-dimensional observation network, ramp up the assimilation application capacity of high resolution observation data of FENGYUN satellites, conduct extreme rainstorm forecasting experiment, and better joint research and result sharing mechanism, etc,.
In 2023, CMA will optimize severe weather monitoring operation in varied kinds, intensities, and consolidate multi-source observation data like new-type radar and satellite, and the application capacity of new technologies like artificial intelligence and big data in nowcasting monitoring, forecasting, early warning and services.
