World Meteorological Day (WMD) 2023 is just around the corner.

In China, meteorological departments have carried out a wide variety of activities to commemorate this momentous day. On March 18, China Meteorological Administration (CMA) and Chinese Meteorological Society (CMS) kicked off the commemorative activity of WMD 2023 in Beijing.

On March 18, the park of CMA, meteorological stations and other meteorological science popularization sites across the nation were opened to the public to boost the publicity of meteorological science popularization in a way which is pleasing to the public.

Meteorological departments in provinces, cities, autonomous regions, counties, and villages were engaged in a raft of colorful commemorative activities. They have resorted to lecture, live streaming, VR and AR experience, promotional video, expert consultation，dissemination of meteorological science popularization materials and other ways to popularize meteorological knowledge to the public. Meteorological personnel have also showcased modern mobile meteorological equipment, weather modification equipment, meteorological observation facilities, and other devices to enable the public to gain insight into the meteorological science. Some provinces have held online activities to attract more viewers to get to know meteorology and meteorological development.

Some meteorological departments have set up meteorological science popularization area and interactive experience area, held knowledge quizzes, and held joint activities with other provinces.

On March 18, CMA also announced 10 major meteorological modernization construction projects for 2022 and State of Global Climate (2022).
